Jakarta, 22 November 2024 – The Indonesia Energy Transition Implementation Joint Office ("IET Joint Office"), also known as Rumah Perancangan Aksi Transisi Energi Nasional (Rumah PATEN), has introduced the IET Channel during Electricity Connect 2024, held at the Jakarta Convention Center. This initiative marks a transformative step toward advancing Indonesia's energy transition and achieving its Net Zero Emission (NZE) target by 2060.

The IET Channel, carrying the tagline "One-Stop Gateway and Epicentrum of Synergy," aims to connect project owners, developers, and financiers in the renewable energy sector. By providing centralized access to resources and opportunities, the platform will help streamline processes, foster collaboration, and attract quality investments critical for Indonesia’s energy transition.

During the opening remarks, Burhanuddin Abdullah, President Commissioner of  PT PLN (Persero), stated, "I applaud the work of the IET Joint Office, PT PLN (Persero) ("PLN"), PT SMI  (Persero) ("SMI"), and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources in accelerating Indonesia's energy transition. The IET Channel and project financing corner are vital breakthroughs that will not only drive sustainability but also boost economic growth."

“This initiative demonstrates that the energy transition can attract investments, create jobs, and foster industries, ensuring a greener and more prosperous future for Indonesia,” added Burhanuddin.

The talk show, titled “8% Economic Growth and Energy Transition: Challenges and Opportunities,” moderated by Edo Mahendra, Chairperson of Rumah PATEN, offered valuable insights from the keynote speakers. Key speakers shared actionable insights during the talk show.

Rachmat Kaimuddin, Deputy at the Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development, emphasized the need for a pragmatic approach.

“We must leverage local feedstocks and prioritize Indonesian manufacturing to strengthen the renewable energy supply chain,” said Rachmat.

Andriah Feby Misna, Director of Various New and Renewable Energy at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, highlighted the complexities of energy transition.

"The economic, social, and political risks are significant, and we must address them through public education and regulatory clarity,” said Feby.

Adding to this, Evy Haryadi, Chairman of the Indonesian Electricity Power Society (MKI), noted the critical role of government and international partnerships in adopting advanced technologies while prioritizing knowledge sharing and long-term workforce development.

The panel discussion further explored Indonesia’s renewable energy roadmap, with significant contributions from industry leaders. Edo Mahendra emphasized the importance of platforms like the IET Channel to reduce transaction costs and connect stakeholders, ensuring no party is left behind in the transition.

In addition, Zainal Arifin, Vice Chairman of Utility Technology at the Indonesian Electricity Power Society (MKI), discussed the critical aspects of decarbonization, digitalization, and decentralization, alongside the need for regulatory frameworks to support grid modernization and electrification.

The unveiling of the IET Channel represents a significant milestone in Indonesia’s energy transition. It directly addresses key challenges such as prolonged project bottlenecks, fragmented coordination, and high costs, ensuring a more inclusive and transparent pathway to renewable energy development.

“The IET Channel is designed to connect financiers, developers, and project owners efficiently, reducing bottlenecks and optimizing coordination to accelerate Indonesia’s energy transition,” said Edo Mahendra, Chairperson of IET Joint Office.

The event, part of the Electricity Connect 2024 series organized by MKI, reaffirms the IET Joint Office's commitment to driving innovation, synergy, and transparency in Indonesia’s renewable energy ecosystem.
